A few months ago, on a weekly base, Fruta Feia was using in Lisbon around 1300 plastic bags to pack strawberries and other small products. In addition to the economic cost, this also had a high environmental impact that does not match the Cooperative’s values. Considering this, Fruta Feia started using poplar boxes that are kept in each delivery point to pack these products
During the transition phase, and because there is always someone who forgets to bring its own bags, the Co-Op sells plastic bags in our delivery points. The proceeds from the sale of these bags is donated to the association Ocean Alive, to support the “Mariscar sem lixo” ("fishing without trash”) campaign, which aims to eliminate the plastic package of salt used by the local fishing and recreational community through the shellfish.
