Food Week ("Semana da Alimentação") took place from 18th to 21st October in Olivais Pedagogical Farm. In the event participated 14 primary school and kindergartens' classes, which engage a total of 308 pupils. The goal was to promote healthy meals and to rise awareness of the importance of fruits and vegetables consumption.
Students learnt about Mediterranean Food Wheel, prepared by the Faculty of Cience and Nutrition of Porto University, to promote a consumptions of different food produtcs. They prepared and tasted meals, which included juices, salads, gelly using fruits, iogurt and less common ingridients as barley. The pupils had the opportunity to go around the Farm, to visit the vegetable gardens and the orchards, exploring and identifying different fruits trees.
