On the 24th May 2016, two classes of Convento do Desagravo School travelled to West Region of Portugal to get to know two producer Co-Op: Horta Pronta e a Cooperfrutas.
At Horta Pronta, schoolers learnt carrots' life cycle: from seeding to harvesting. They had the opportunity to harvest carrots on the field and tast them after being wahsed.
At Cooperfrutas, students were taught apples's process from harvesting to retail vendors. Students visited apples' storage room and conservation chambers, understood how the product was sellected based on size and the packaging process.
They learnt why mishaped carrots and apples were rejected by calibrators and could not reach final consumers' table.
